A Little Puppy's Long Story
A TALE OF TAILS
It was a long, long time ago, back in 2001, that Roger Good, our GOOD PUPPY icon and role model in training was born. For the first few years he was the front-dog to our design agency. It wasn't until 2013 that GOOD PUPPY BOOKS was introduced with the release of seven children picture book titles; every one of them focused on helping children through early development.
In the meantime, our tiny group of two and a digital puppy, including designer/developer, Lorenzo Di Alessandro and designer/creative director, Marina Tito, was presented with a challenge. Gabriel Tito, younger brother and family therapist with thirteen years of experience working with families and children in South Florida, was frustrated with the difficulty of curbing child behavior. Whenever progress seemed to be made during a session, it would mostly vanish by the next appointment, after a week under the already established family dynamics. While charts and incentives could work for a little while, they were difficult for parents to keep up, emotions weren't addressed, communication wasn't improved, limits weren't properly set, leaving very little chance of getting children the structure they needed or positively affecting family dynamics.
That's when we decided to call Roger to the rescue! Our GOOD PUPPY had been created to charm adults, but coincidentally, its minimalist style made him very easy for children to understand from a very early age. This particularity had already won Roger our children's picture books' brand name and icon. Now, Roger had more work ahead of him.
Bringing together concepts and methods already proven to work, and with Gabriel's help, the GOOD PUPPY Children Behavioral System came to life. Created with multiple correspondences and empathic images kids understand from a very young age, the system is inclusive of children with dyslexia, color-blindness and some dissociative disorders. Seamlessly designed for home, school and therapy, the system consists of predetermined consequences, incentives and positive reinforcements that teach smart thinking. Emotions are addressed to improve communication while behavior is handled by a reward system that entices children to thrive within a healthy structure, building confidence, self-esteem and a strong moral code.
